Charity

Here at Stray East, we have committed to giving a percentage of our profits back to a charity based in India, where we source a lot of our products from. Below you can read about our chosen charity and why.

During our time in India, although we were inspired by its beauty and culture, we were affected by the serious need for education in the marginalised classes. India has over 3 million children living on the streets and despite having a national policy for compulsory primary education, only 50% of children attend school/have access to education.

One of the many things 'Save the Children India' are committed to doing is ensuring all children, irrespective of their origin, are able to go to school, play, interact and learn with other children of their age. By counselling parents from humble backgrounds in the benefits of sending their children to school, as well as assisting them through the admission process; they help even the most marginalised children not only attend school, but stay there. This is just one of the many programs and ways they help the children of India.

Independent reviews have also found Save the Children to be a responsible spender - 89.6% of the charity’s total expenses are spent on the programs and services it delivers, only 4.9% are spent on administrative expenses and 5.3% on fundraising expenses (All of this can be found here) - so you know your money is going to the right place!
